In 1985 whilst a serving member of HM Forces, I cracked a vertebrae and received an alar transverse fusion, they chipped the bottom of the vertebrae off, removed the disc took soft bone from my hips and fused the broken vertebrae to the one below it. 1 Year later I was fully fit and attending a rigorous course and unfortunately slipped a disc. The disc was removed and again the two vertebrae were fused together.
